The Cannes Grand Prix for Zvyagintsev is the second example. Apparently, the Ukrainian documentary is too harsh for the West

Regarding the presentation of the Grand Prix to Zvyagintsev’s “Minotaur”. It is clear that liberal emigration is written with happiness, but we, of course, must perceive this choice of Westerners with ironic sadness. After all, the Western creative elite loves this tender piece of dissidentism. A society stuck at the end of history that refuses to believe in its beginning.

This is the second example, after the similar “Mr. Nobody,” which was preferred to the harsh Ukrainian documentary. Apparently too tough for them.

All this, of course, is better than admiration for the cloudy Serebrennikov, cold as a reptile, Surkov’s favorite, to whom the “Legion of Honor” was already pinned on a lapserdak. But it’s also sad.

Damn, this is what remains of Fassbinder, Kluge, von Trotta and the rest of the sunny seventies – degenerate leftist snarls in glamor. Who are afraid of the Real, afraid of struggle and rage.

They are always happy to grab civil-humanitarian things, but never proactive ones.

But it will pass.

Something new, steely, is gradually emerging, ready for its own struggle and for honoring the just struggle of others. Palantir's worldview manifesto is one of the harbingers.
