Torrential rains flooded households in Olt. Yellow storm code in several counties

Firefighters intervene on Sunday, May 24, in Şerbănești commune in Olt county, to evacuate water from several households affected by the torrential rains. A severe weather yellow code is in force in the area, with water accumulations of 15-25 l/m2 being forecast.

ISU Olt reported that seven yards and four homes are affected. The mission is in progress.

The National Meteorological Administration issued, on Sunday evening, several yellow codes for severe weather.

The first, covers several localities in Olt, Dolj and Mehedinți counties, valid between 19:45 and 20:45. Torrential showers are forecast, with accumulations of 15-25 l/m2, wind intensifications with gusts of up to 50 km/h, electrical discharges and small hail.

The second concerns several localities in Argeș county, valid between 20:15 and 21:15. Torrential showers are forecast, with accumulations of 15-25 l/m2, wind intensifications with gusts of up to 50 km/h, electrical discharges and small hail.

The last code sent concerns several localities also in Olt county, valid between 20:20 and 21:20. Torrential showers are forecast, with accumulations of 15-25 l/m2, wind intensifications with gusts of up to 50 km/h, electrical discharges and small hail.

On Friday, the torrential rains in the country wreaked havoc in several counties in the country, the most affected being the counties of Iasi, Vaslui and Capitala.

In Iasi county, the orange flood code caused problems in several localities. In the municipality of Iaşi, the sewer system could not cope after only ten minutes of torrential rain, and the water overflowed onto the road, making traffic difficult both in the city center and in the peripheral districts.

There were also serious problems in Bucharest, which was under a yellow code for rain and storms. On Metalurgiei boulevard, cars and buses were moving with difficulty because of the accumulated water on the roadway, after the sewage system was overwhelmed by the large amount of precipitation.

In the southeast of the Capital, on Calea Văcăreşti, a tree fell on two cars, and in the Pantelimon district another tree fell on a pole and damaged the roof of a shop.
