A hobbyist found a World War II bomb near Helsinki. Someone moved it


The police found the bomb after an hour of searching. The charge was lying near where the hobbyist had originally discovered it – reports Yle radio. The police suspect the man of using explosives. He carried the bomb and then walked past the ice rink with the child while officers searched for it.

A hobbyist found a bomb, the patrol did not fence the place

A hobbyist using a metal detector came across an unexploded ordnance in Riihimaki, about 70 km north of Helsinki, in April. Initially, it was assumed that the find was a hand grenade. The police arrived at the site a month later and did not mark the safety zone, although it turned out to be a Russian incendiary bomb from World War II.

The suspect indicated the location, the police are under the microscope

The suspect revealed the new location of the cargo during interrogation, the police said in a statement. Investigators are investigating the motives behind his actions. At the same time, an internal investigation is being conducted against the officers who may have neglected their duties because they did not fence off the site where the unexploded bomb was found.
