The editors of the publication Gazzetta.gr compiled the best eleven of the season 2025 – 2026 in the first league of Greece.

Răzvan Marin's transfer from Cagliari to AEK was very successful last summer. In his first season in Greece, the Romanian international won the title with the Athenians, and more recently, journalists from the publication Gazzetta.gr designated him as the best defensive midfielder of the recently concluded championship edition.

Gazzetta.gr: “Răzvan Marin improved AEK's axis”

The motivation of those at Gazzetta.gr? “He came to Greece in the summer and really improved AEK's axis, forming a very effective and functional duo with Orbelin Pineda. Good with the ball at his feet, accurate in passing, decent defensively and with a major asset in his good footwho posed a serious threat to opposing defences, especially from set pieces, his speciality.

Răzvan finished sixth in assists, with a total of 6. As for assists from set pieces, he averaged 0.08 per 90 minutes, which may seem very little to some, but is the third best performance in the championship, after Eliasson (0.11) and Despodov (0.10), who obviously played much less than him,” the quoted newspaper wrote.

Champion AEK Athens has 7 players in the first eleven of the championship

The first eleven of Gazzetta.gr journalists looks like this: Thomas Strakosha (AEK Athens) – Lazaros Rota (AEK Athens), Panagiotis Retsos (Olympiakos), Filipe Relvas (AEK Athens), Giorgos Kyriakopoulos (Panathinaikos) – Orbelin Pineda (AEK Athens), RĂZVAN MARIN (AEK Athens), Giannis Konstantelias (PAOK) – Andrija Zivkovic (PAOK), Luka Jovic (AEK Athens), Aboubakar Koita (AEK Athens).

The 29-year-old Romanian international played a total of 31 championship matches, in which he scored three goals and provided six assists, in 2,203 minutes on the field. AEK Athens took him last summer for 1.7 million euros from Cagliari and offered him a contract for 3 seasons.
