The current season will be the last for Mohamed Salah (33 years old) at Liverpool, as the “cormorant” club announced via social networks. The decision marks the end of an era for one of the most important players in the club's recent history at Anfield.

Recently, the Egyptian marked another milestone, scoring in the 4-0 win over Galatasaray, becoming the African player with the most goals scored in the Champions League.

Liverpool make the announcement: “Mohamed Salah will leave the club”

Liverpool have officially confirmed that they have parted ways with Salah, and the moment he will be honored for his huge contribution will come at the end of the 2025-26 season when he bids farewell to Anfield.

The forward has agreed a deal with the Cormorants that will end a remarkable nine-year spell at Anfield.
Salah expressed his desire to make this announcement to supporters as soon as possible to provide transparency about his future out of respect and gratitude to them.

Transferred from AS Roma in the summer of 2017, the number 11 firmly established himself as one of the greatest players in the history of the Liverpool club, helping the team to two Premier League titles, the Champions League, the FIFA Club World Cup, the European Super Cup, the FA Cup and two League Cups, as well as an English Super Cup (FA Community Shield).

His 255 goals in 435 appearances to date puts the Egyptian third in the club's all-time goalscoring charts, with him winning the Premier League Golden Boot four times, in addition to numerous other individual accolades. With many goals still to fight for this season, Salah is fully focused on getting the best result possible in this campaign for Liverpool; therefore, the time to fully celebrate his legacy and achievements will come later this year when he says goodbye to Anfield.

Mohamed Salah also made the official announcement: “This is the first part of the breakup”

In a clip that showcased several moments from Salah's career, with fans chanting his name in the background, the Egyptian gave an emotional message, talking about his departure from Liverpool and the special connection he has with the club, the city and the fans, posting the clip on social media.

Hello everyone, unfortunately this day has arrived. This is the first part of the breakup. I will leave Liverpool at the end of the season. I want to start by saying that I never imagined how deeply this city, this club and these people would become a part of my life.
Liverpool is not just a football club, it is a passion, a history, a spirit.
I can't explain in words to someone who isn't part of the club. We celebrated victories with the most important trophies, we went through the hard times together and I want to thank everyone who has been part of this club, especially my colleagues past and present, but also the fans. I have no words for how much the fans have supported me in the best moments of my career and how they have been by my side in the hard times. I won't forget.
Breakups are not easy. You gave me the most beautiful moments of my life, I will always be one of you, this club will always be my home for me and my family.

Thank you for everything, because because of you… “I Will Never Walk Alone”.

Salah, almost a decade at Anfield

Mohamed Salah began his rise at Al Mokawloon in Egypt, making the move to Europe in 2012 at Basel, where he won two league titles. A move to Chelsea followed in 2014, but after a difficult spell in London, he reinvented himself in Italy, first on loan at Fiorentina and later at AS Roma.

His breakthrough came with a move to Liverpool in 2017. Under Jurgen Klopp and later Arne Slot, the Egyptian won the Premier League, Champions League and numerous individual trophies and was the league's top scorer for four seasons. Salah is currently the top African goalscorer in Premier League history.

At Anfield, 'Mo' Salah managed to score 255 goals and provide 122 assists in 435 official matches for the Cormorants. Even though his departure has been announced, Salah has been a consistent starter this season for Liverpool as well.
