Antonina Radu will serve the prison sentence in the Collective file in the Republic of Moldova, where she fled from justice in Romania

Antonina Radu, former ISU officer convicted in the Collective case, will serve six years in prison in the Republic of Moldova, which recognized the Romanian conviction, announced the Ministry of Justice, which was informed of the decision by the Ministry of Justice in Chisinau.
Antonina Radu, ISUBIF firefighter, was definitively sentenced in Romania to 8 years and 8 months in prison in May 2022, but she fled to the Republic of Moldova, where she was originally from, and Romania failed to extradite her.
“Following his location on the territory of the Republic of Moldova and considering that this state does not extradite its own citizens, on May 31, 2022 the Romanian Ministry of Justice submitted to the Moldovan authorities the request to take over the execution of the sentence”, according to a press release from the Ministry of Justice.
“Following this fact, Radu Antonina is serving a 6-year prison sentence, pronounced by the Moldovan court on the basis of the recognition of the conviction in Romania, currently she is incarcerated in a penitentiary in the Republic of Moldova”, added the Ministry of Justice of Romania, without explaining the difference between the years of prison she was sentenced to and how much Chisinau announced she would serve.
Antonina Radu has in the past opened several actions at the courts in Chisinau, in parallel with the approach of the Ministry of Justice from Bucharest regarding extradition, respectively the recognition and execution of the sentence on the territory of the Republic of Moldova.
According to the documents from the files before the Chisinau Court of Appeal, respectively, consulted last year by HotNews, Antonina Radu tried to get the sentence annulled on the grounds that, applying the legislation of the Republic of Moldova, her actions were prescribed at the time of the Bucharest Court of Appeal's sentence.
On July 12, 2025, Antonina Radu, currently Petrescu, also won a stage victory at the Chisinau Court of Appeal, when the court decided to re-judge the request of the Romanian Ministry of Justice regarding the recognition and enforcement on the territory of the Republic of Moldova of the criminal sentence from the Collective file.
