Meteorologists are forecasting the first major heat wave next week, during which temperatures in the UK, France and Spain could rise as much as 11C above normal. Bloomberg reported this on May 22.
According to weather forecasters, due to the anticyclonic “heat dome” that will soon cover Europe, the air temperature in Paris could reach 31 °C, in London – 32 °C, and in some parts of Spain – 38 °C. This is 5–11 °C above normal, the publication notes. According to British meteorologists, this could be a “quite noticeable phenomenon.”
The French weather service Météo-France predicts that heat waves will occur earlier and last longer during the summer season due to climate change. In Spain, according to the state weather service AEMET, the “most extreme” heat is expected in the Guadiana and Guadalquivir regions.
At the same time, sunny and stable weather could increase solar energy production in Europe and reduce the load on the power grid due to increased cooling demand.
According to forecaster Natalya Didenko, the weather in Ukraine over the weekend will be heterogeneous: on Saturday in the west, north and part of the central regions there will be no precipitation, while rain, thunderstorms, squalls and even hail are possible in the rest of the territory. The daytime temperature will be +23…+28 °C, in the southeast – up to +30 °C. In Kyiv on May 23–24, dry weather will prevail with +21…+23 °C.
