The price of new harvest white cabbage in Ukraine is falling noticeably and significantly. EastFruit project analysts drew attention to this on May 18.
Manufacturers cite the reason for the price reduction as a seasonal increase in market supply, as well as rather subdued demand.
Now cabbage from the 2026 harvest can be bought at a price of 40 UAH/kg, which is on average 18% cheaper than at the end of the last working week.
It is noted that farmers have reduced prices for new-crop cabbage due to excess supply – most Ukrainian farms have already begun mass harvesting of early cabbage.
At the same time, farmers who have stocks of last year’s cabbage of acceptable quality are raising prices for their products – now a batch of white cabbage from the 2025 harvest costs 10–17 UAH/kg, while a week earlier prices were 8–15 UAH/kg, depending on quality and volume.
The demand for last year's cabbage of appropriate quality remains stable. At the same time, despite the rapid decline in prices, new-crop cabbage in Ukraine is now on sale on average 14% more expensive than in the same period last year.
