The soldiers injured in the Botoșani accident were sent to Belgium. Decision taken after evaluation by doctors

The two soldiers who suffered serious burns as a result of Monday's explosion in an ammunition disposal site on the outskirts of Botoșani, were urgently transferred to the “Queen Maria Astrid” Hospital in Brussels, informs the Department for Emergency Situations.
“The decision to transfer was made following the medical evaluation carried out by specialists, taking into account the severity of the injuries. Both patients are intubated, mechanically ventilated and have burns in the upper respiratory tract,” stated the DSU.
Initially, the soldiers were stabilized in the emergency department of the “Mavromati” Botoșani Emergency County Hospital, after which it was decided to transfer them immediately to a specialized center for the treatment of major burns.
The two were taken by ambulances, escorted by the police, to the “Ștefan cel Mare” International Airport in Suceava.
“At Suceava, the victims were boarded on board a C-27J Spartan aircraft of the Romanian Air Force, configured for medical missions. Medical assistance during the flight is provided by a team consisting of two doctors and two assistants from the UPU-SMURD of the Bucharest Emergency Clinical Hospital, together with military medical personnel of the MApN,” DSU reported.
The complex rescue mission is the result of cooperation between the Ministry of Internal Affairs, through the Department for Emergency Situations and the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of National Defense, the cited source also states.
An explosion followed by a fire took place on a training ground of the Romanian Army during the disposal of ammunition, two soldiers were injured and taken to the Botoșani Emergency Hospital, according to MApN.
The ministry said the incident occurred at 1:00 p.m. at a training ground belonging to the Land Forces' 33rd Technical Materials Depot.
“The explosion, followed by a fire, occurred during activities to dismantle the ammunition (26 mm signal cartridges). The commander of the unit ordered an investigation into the circumstances of the incident,” the quoted source said.
