Shai Gilgeous-Alexander won the MVP award for the second year in a row. The Canadian from Oklahoma City received 83 votes from a jury of 100 voters, beating Serbia's Nikola Jokic and France's Victor Wembanyama. “I'm incredibly proud to join a group of players (those who have won the award in two consecutive seasons, ed.) who have changed basketball“, Gilgeous-Alexander pointed out. Shai celebrated receiving the award at the Thunder's practice facility, surrounded by his teammates, all wearing new trench coats and luxury watches.

It was a truly outstanding regular season for the OKC point guard, who finished with a career-high 31.1 points per game (only Doncic surpassed that). The Thunder leader, who also averaged 6.6 assists (a personal best) and never scored under 20 points in a game this year, led the defending champions to a 64-18 NBA record.

SGA also became only the second player in history, along with Michael Jordan, to average at least 30 points and five assists while shooting 50% in four consecutive championships.

In the NBA, the finals of the two conferences are contested: Thunder – Spurs and Cavaliers – Knicks.
