The court sentenced a 33-year-old resident of the Odessa region who corrupted two children of his partner. The court case was considered for more than four years, the Office of the Prosecutor General reported on May 18 on Telegram.
According to investigators, the man began corrupting his youngest child, a 10-year-old stepdaughter, back in 2019. At first he talked to her about intimate topics and persuaded her to have sexual intercourse, after which he systematically raped her for two years. The defendant called these “games” and convinced the girl to keep them a secret from her mother, intimidating that she could become seriously ill and even die if she found out.
In 2020, the stepfather, while drunk, tried to rape his 15-year-old stepson while he was sleeping. However, according to the case file, the guy ran away and locked himself in another room.
The prosecutor's office reported that the defendant's guilt was confirmed by the results of examinations and the testimony of the victim and witnesses. The case was considered twice by the court of first instance, as well as by the court of appeal following a defense complaint.
In court, the man did not admit his guilt. He was sentenced to 14 years in prison. The maximum penalty for such crimes is 15 years in prison, the department noted.
