As summer approaches in Russia, cases of severe injuries and deaths of teenagers while driving pit bikes have become more frequent. The Investigative Department of the Russian Investigative Committee for the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug has listed three main safety rules for parents and young racers.

As Yamal 1 writes, the department emphasized that a pit bike is a sports equipment, not a means of transportation. Its use on public roads, in courtyards, parks and sidewalks is prohibited by law and entails administrative liability. If harm is caused to the health or life of people, criminal liability arises.
The first rule is that you can only ride on specialized tracks and closed areas. Second, full protection is required: helmet, elbow pads, knee pads, back protection and special shoes. Third, parents bear full responsibility for their children.
“It is easier to prevent a disaster than to live with its consequences,” the investigation department warned.
