Fire caused by a drone at the Barakah nuclear power plant in the Arab Emirates. What the authorities in Abu Dhabi say

The authorities in Abu Dhabi announced that they intervened on Sunday following a fire that broke out at an electrical generator located outside the inner perimeter of the Barakah nuclear power plant, in the Al Dhafra region – United Arab Emirates, an incident caused by a drone attack.
According to the official statement, no casualties were reported and radiological safety levels were not affected. The Federal Nuclear Regulatory Authority also confirmed that all the plant's essential systems are operating normally, according to Arab News.
“The fire did not affect the safety of the plant or the operation of its essential systems, and all units are operating within normal parameters“, reported the Abu Dhabi Media Office.
The authorities appealed to the population to get information only from official sources and to avoid spreading rumors or unverified information.
The statement issued by the Abu Dhabi Media Office did not indicate any state responsible for the attack.

Reuters recalls, however, that the United Arab Emirates has recently been targeted by several missile and drone attacks, amid escalating tensions between Iran, the United States and Israel.
Abu Dhabi authorities have previously said some of these incidents originated in Iran and targeted energy and maritime infrastructure.
