427 people drowned in rivers, lakes and other bodies of water in Russia over the past two weeks. Among them are 86 children – unfortunately, this is a record for the last 14 days.
The first leading cause of death for children is parents who leave their children unattended. The second is that children go to reservoirs on their own, swim in places not equipped for this – a tragedy happens, and there is no one to help them. The leading cause of death among adults is alcohol mixed with water activities.
According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, from January 1 to June 26 this year, the number of drowned people reached a shocking figure of 1,254 people. Most people drown in rivers and reservoirs, not in the sea.
