Ciprian Ciucu wants Eurovision in Bucharest: “I have already sent the official letter”

The Mayor of the Capital, Ciprian Ciucu, announced that he has sent an official letter through which Bucharest expresses its willingness to host the 2027 edition of the Eurovision Song Contest.
Celebrating its 70th anniversary this year, the European music competition is traditionally held in the country that won the previous edition. The rules on the contest's official website state that the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), the organizer of Eurovision, can appoint another host if the winning country is unable to hold the event.
In 2026, Vienna, the capital of Austria, is the host, and in this evening's final, Romania's representative, Alexandra Căpitănescu, is also qualified. She will take the stage after midnight, being the penultimate artist in the order of performances.
“We hold our fists to Alexandra Capitănescu tonight! We would be honored to host Eurovision in 2027! We have already sent the official letter in this regard, together with TVR. According to the procedures, it is sent in time,” said the general mayor of the Capital, on Saturday evening, in a post on Facebook.
Ciprian Ciucu said that the song “Choke Me”, the song that Alexandra Căpitănescu sings at Eurovision, “is very cool”.
“Alexandra is very talented and I'm glad she's representing us! And if she's going to be, it's only to her and the band's credit! She's already created a sensation, she's a perfect artist,” added the mayor.
