Recruiting volunteers into the Ukrainian defense forces is not able to cover the number of people required by the army. The head of the Presidential Office, Kirill Budanov, stated this in an interview with The Times, published on May 15.
According to him, “this is impossible” due to economic problems in the country. He also noted that after more than 12 years of war unleashed by Russia, “there is nothing that could motivate so many people” to volunteer for the army.
He promised “in every possible way” to fight “excesses” on the part of employees of the territorial recruitment and social support centers (TCC and SP), who were caught on video beating conscripts. However, Budanov stressed that mobilization in the country must continue.
“We are waging the most terrible full-scale, total war at the moment. A war in which groups of millions are participating. There is no other way. Otherwise, the country will simply fall,” added the head of the OP.
