A spread is a hybrid of butter and margarine, which is made from vegetable and milk fats. Specialists from the Krasnoyarsk branch of the Federal State Budgetary Institution “Tsok Agroindustrial Complex” explained what its advantages are and who can replace the usual oil with it.

The spread resembles butter, but costs less and is easy to spread even from the refrigerator. It is based on vegetable oils (sunflower, olive, rapeseed, corn, palm, coconut); milk fat is added only for taste. Harmful hydrogenated fats are prohibited in it.
The spread is suitable for those who monitor their cholesterol levels, are lactose intolerant, as well as vegetarians and vegans. A product made with olive oil or with a high content of milk fat is especially useful. However, when purchasing, you should study the composition – a large number of additives indicates low quality.
Nutritionists advise eating no more than a tablespoon of spread per day. Product with a fat content of 72-82% is suitable for baking and frying, and with a lower fat content – for sandwiches.
For comparison, experts also talked about butter. It can be of different fat content (from 50 to 82.5%) – each is used for different purposes. Natural oil does not crumble, does not stick to the packaging, has a dense consistency and a shiny cut. The daily norm for a healthy person is 10 grams. You can check the authenticity in a hot frying pan: natural oil melts slowly, but the fake oil sizzles and burns.
