The South Sudan and Israel discussed an agreement to relocate the Palestinians in Gaza to the African country, already torn by a civil war concluded a few years ago, three sources for Reuters said. The plan has already been rejected as unacceptable by the Palestinian leaders.

The sources stated, under the protection of anonymity, that the discussions between South Sudan and Israel were not in progress.

If the plan implementation is reached, the Palestinians in Gaza would be moved to a country already devastated by years of political and ethnic nature.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said this month that he intends to extend military control in Gaza, and the course of the week has resumed suggestions that Palestinians should leave the strip voluntarily.

Arab leaders, as well as from other countries of the world, have rejected the idea of moving the population of Gaza to any other country of the world. Palestinians said they would be another “Nakba” (“catastrophe”), when hundreds of thousands fled or were expelled during the 1948 Arab-Israeli war.

The three sources indicated that the perspective of Palestinian displacement in South Sudan was invoked during meetings between Israeli officials and South-Sudanese Foreign Minister Semaya Kumba, during the visit he made last month. The claims of the quoted sources seem to contradict the minister who, on Wednesday, said that he is “without foundation”.

Information about these discussions was initially published on Tuesday by Associated Press, who quoted six people who have information about issues.

Wasel Abu Yussef, a member of the Executive Committee of the Organization for the Liberation of Palestine, said that the Palestinian people “reject any plan or the idea of deportation to the South Sudan or in any other place.”

The statement after one transmitted by the office of Palestinian President Mahmud Abbas. Hamas, who is fighting Israel in Gaza, has not issued a point of view on this topic.

Deputy Foreign Minister Sharren Haskel, who visited the South Sudan's capital this week, said that the discussions did not take place for relocation. “The discussions were about extension policy, about multilateral organizations, about the humanitarian crisis, the true humanitarian crisis that takes place in the South Sudan and the war,” said Haskel.

Netanyahu, who was seen with Kumba last month, said that Israel is in contact with a few countries to find a destination for the Palestinians who want to leave Gaza, but constantly refused to give details.
