After the Betano Romanian Cup final lost by U Cluj on penalties with Craiova University5-6, after 0-0 in 120 minutes, Atanas Trică, the Cluj striker, had a message for the Olten supporters.
Atanas, the grandson of the legendary Ilie Balaci and the son of Eugen Trică, executed U Cluj's 5th penalty in the final against Craiova University. After the match, he commented on the recent altercations with the Olten supporters.
Everything started after, on May 5, Trică declared that “I hope our brothers (no – Dinamo) will help us, confuse Craiova, do something”. Then, the nephew of Ilie Balaci was cursed by the supporters of the team from Bănie.
Atanas will go to Banie with U Cluj on Sunday, in stage 9 of the play-off. The match can decide the title. If Olten University Craiova wins, it is mathematically champion. Any other result pushes the outcome into the final round of the play-offs.
Atanas Trică: “The Oblemenco match is coming up, I'm waiting to see their reaction too”
Maybe the worst night of my life, compared to the elimination against the Armenians. There was no courage at the penalty shootout, all my colleagues trust me, I know that I hit very well.
I have no words to describe the sadness I feel. It's also against the team that gave me up and I wanted to win. I had nothing to prove to anyone. Craiova got me into professional football.
I apologize profusely, as I said before, for the slightly euphoric outings I had last time, at the match with FC Argeș”, said Trică in the first phase, about the Cup final, at the first Sport 1.
He then continued with his message to supporters: “If the fans are going to swear at me, that's their job. The match at Oblemenco is coming, I'm waiting to see their reaction. I'm very curious to know what situation I'll be in, being such an important match. I'm also waiting to see their respect for my family.”
It's a difficult situation, our morale is a little low. Luck was not on our side, we executed the penalties well.
