MotoGP world champion Marc Marquez (33) underwent two surgeries on Sunday, May 10, on his right leg and shoulder after an injury sustained in the sprint race of the French Grand Prix.

Marc Marquez managed to win his 7th MotoGP world title in 2025, dominating the season in a clear manner. But, since the last part of the last season, the Spaniard began to have physical problems, which continued in 2026.

As a result, Marquez was forced to withdraw from both the Thai Grand Prix and the Spanish Grand Prix. On Saturday, May 9, in the sprint race of the French Grand Prix, the 33-year-old driver suffered a serious injury to his right leg. More accurate, Marquez fractured his fifth metatarsal.

Therefore, on Sunday, May 10, he underwent two surgeries, one on his right leg and one on his right shoulder, where he has an older injury.

The reigning world champion withdrew from the French Grand Prix and will not participate in next weekend's Catalan Grand Prix either.

Marc Marquez is currently 7th overall with 57 points and is two points behind his brother Alex Marquez who has 55 points.

The leader of the championship is Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia), who collected 128 points, winning the first 3 races of the year: Thailand, Brazil and the United States of America. In second place, one point behind the Italian, is the Spaniard Jorge Martin (Aprilia), who won the French Grand Prix at the weekend.

In 3rd and 4th places are Fabio Di Giannantonio (Ducati – 84 points) and Pedro Acosta (KTM – 83 points).
