The match took place at the Steaua stadium, in a game from the eighth stage of the play-out phase of the football Superleague.

FCSB had a good chance to score in the first half, through Octavian Popescu, whose shot was deflected by Florinel Ibrian, but goalkeeper Robert Popa had a saving reflex.

In min. 44, goalkeeper Matei Popa collided with teammate Joao Paulo, the phase continued and the visitors sent the ball twice into the bar, after which they scored, but the goal was canceled by the video referee for offside.

FCSB created several chances in the second half, through Florin Tănase (57), Joao Paulo (89), Darius Olaru (90+4, 90+5 – bar). Unirea was close to scoring through Nicolae Carnat (69), whose shot was blocked by Ștefan Târnovanu.

In the regular season, the two teams shared their victories, Unirea winning 1-0 in Bucharest, and FCSB 2-0 in the return leg.

FCSB has no head coach and wants Elias Charalambous for the play-off matches. With 37 points, FCSB is first in the play-out.
