President Nicușor Dan is in Brussels, June 26-27, 2025, to attend the meeting of the European Council, according to a statement of the Presidential Administration. However, his arrival was shaded by a tense moment.

At the entrance, the head of state was stopped by several Romanian citizens, who reproached him for the lack of answers related to the annulment of elections in 2024 and information on sources regarding tax increases. They “bombarded” him with questions and accusations, without letting time react.

You promised that you will show us the truth. Until today, we, the citizens of Romania, have no response to the annulment of the elections ”one of the protesters shouted.

This month will follow …”, The president tried to answer, at which time another question was asked:“ DIs that what did you grow? ”. The president tried to reply again: “VAT e 19%”, But he was immediately interrupted by another reply: “As usual, you get stuck.”.

Dissatisfaction related to pensions and income

Among the insistent questions asked to Nicușor Dan were those related to the level of pensions and the salaries of the dignitaries. “How do you expect someone to live with a pension of 500 lei?”a woman asked, while another protester accused: “Why was the salary of 20,000 lei not enough for you and did you add 50% extra?”.

The president tried to react, saying: “If you know better than me …“, But he failed to take the idea to the end.

An impossible dialogue

The only attempt to explain came when the head of state said: “This month will follow …“, But without being able to continue the phrase. The tense atmosphere and the rapid pace of the questions in a high tone did not offer the president the opportunity to wear a real dialogue.
