The MAI reports that the checks in the case of the crime in Bihor “did not reveal any intentional delays or refusals to intervene”

The Ministry of Internal Affairs reported on Monday, May 11, that preliminary checks did not indicate intentional delays or refusals to intervene by the police or emergency crews in the case of the crime in Bihor, in which an 18-year-old student was killed by a 39-year-old man.

The ministry's clarifications come after the girl's father said the intervention of emergency crews was delayed and made serious allegations about the way the situation was handled.

You didn't offer me help, I called 5 times to help us and only after 40-50 minutes, I don't know exactly, only two from the border police came and about 1 and a half hours later the rescue and the police crew came even though I prayed on my knees to come and save our girl.

We want the whole country to see what it means to call 112 for help, to see the Ministry of Justice and those from the government if it has a soul in which country we live!”, the man writes.

We remind you that the teenager, working on a farm, was killed and abandoned in a field. The main suspect is a 39-year-old shepherd, a repeat offender previously convicted of murder, who was caught after several hours of searches with drones, dogs and a helicopter.

MAI specifications

The institution declares in a statement that, at the disposal of the Minister of the Interior, Cătălin Predoiu, “checks were carried out regarding the management of calls to 112 and the action of the MAI structures in this case.”

So, according to the MAI, at 11:45 the first call to 112, made by the victim's father, was recorded. He notified the fact that he is unable to get in touch with the girl and mentioned that, at the farm where she practiced, a shepherd works who he said has a criminal record.

The first call to 112 was treated as a case of disappearance, and after about four minutes, in which the operators collected the necessary information, the case was transferred to the police crews.

The MAI stated that the policemen sent to intervene were in other localities, two mixed patrols of the Police and the Border Police being mobilized.

Later, at 12:08, the same caller returned with a new call to 112, signaling the fact that no crew had yet arrived at the scene. Until the authorities arrived, the farm administrator raised a drone, through which the victim's body was observed.

At 12:12 p.m., the first police crew arrived at the scene and confirmed that the person was deceased.

Ten minutes later, at 12:22, the victim's father called 112 again to announce that the girl had been found dead and to request the intervention of a SMURD crew. According to the MAI, the crew had already been requested by the police who arrived at the scene.

At 12:23 p.m., another call was received from him, who repeated that the victim's body had been found and insisted on sending a medical helicopter.

The MAI reported that the victim's father repeatedly requested the intervention of a SMURD helicopter, which was sent at 12:35 p.m., but later turned back from the road after the medical staff at the scene found that the girl no longer had vital signs.

The institution also states that medical teams and ISU resources were mobilized immediately after the requests made through 112.

“We specify that, until this moment, the operative checks have not revealed any intentional delays or refusals to intervene on the part of the MAI structures or operative crews. At the same time, we understand the public emotion and the family drama, which is why all aspects related to this case are analyzed with the utmost seriousness and transparency.

In such moments, beyond procedures and chronologies, remains the tragedy of a family that has lost its child.

We reaffirm that any situation in which there are suspicions regarding the functioning of the intervention mechanisms will be checked with responsibility, and any necessary measures will be ordered according to the law”, the MIA emphasizes in the statement.
