White things lose their freshness over time. Even after washing, they look grayish, especially in the heel and collar areas. The reason is not a bad machine, but a residue from sweat, soap and hard water that eats into the fibers. But you don't need to buy chlorine bleach.
There is a simple and safe way to return things to their “store-bought” whiteness using baking soda. It will gently remove old stains, neutralize odors and will not damage the fabric.
How to do:
- Pour 1/2 a pack of baking soda into the washing machine drum.
- Put down white things.
- Add regular powder.
- Run a normal cycle at 60°C.
Baking soda loosens plaque, dissolves soap residue and enhances the effect of the powder. After the first wash, you will notice: the socks are white again, and the T-shirts are not “gray”, but pure white.
If things are very neglected, soak them overnight in a basin: 2 tbsp. l. soda + warm water. In the morning, wash as usual.
This method is safe even for delicate fabrics, leaves no odor and works better than any expensive stain remover.
