Szczecin is losing an investor. A large company goes out of business after years of development

According to the wszczecinie.pl portal, Garo announced the termination of its operations in Poland.
The decision concerns the plants in Szczecin and means the gradual phasing out of production by the end of the year.
“This is shocking information, because Garo Polska is a company associated with development, long-term thinking about the future and really high quality of work,” wszczecinie.pl quotes one of the local entrepreneurs.
Hundreds of people are at risk of losing their jobs
Although the exact number of layoffs has not been announced, it is known that up to several hundred people may lose their jobs.
In 2023, the company employed approximately 160 employees, and after the launch of the new factory, further employment growth was planned – even to over 300 peoplereports the portal.

The president of the Polish branch, Marek Samborski, commented on the situation in an official statement on Facebook.
“It is with a heavy heart that we have accepted the decision to discontinue production in Poland,” he writes. The president emphasized that over the years the company has created a “unique workplace” based on cooperation and responsibility.
The process of extinction is already beginning
The management board announced that the closure of operations would be gradual and orderly.
“The process will be conducted to meet all obligations” – assured in the statement.
The priority will be to support employees affected by the changes, Garo assures.

From development to closure. What does the company do?
Just two years ago, the company invested in Szczecin and opened a new factory in the economic zone. At that time, it was explained by the growing electromobility market and dynamic development was planned. As you can see, things changed quite quickly.
Garo specializes in the production of electric vehicle charging stations (so-called wallboxes), which can be used both privately and publicly.
The company had been operating in Poland since 1996 and was part of the Swedish group.
