VIDEO A deputy from Hungary took the oath in Romanian. Csoma: “How the chauvinists would be puffed up if someone were to take the oath in Hungarian”

UDMR deputy Csoma Botond published on his Facebook account a clip in which a recently elected deputy in the Hungarian Parliament took the oath of allegiance in Romanian. The leader of the Union deputies gave as a counterexample the AUR deputy Dan Tănasă, whom he accused of new chauvinist statements.

“A Hungarian MP took the oath in her mother tongue and was applauded for it, not booed,” wrote Csoma Botond.

According to News.ro, it is about deputy Gurzó Mária, representative of the Romanian community in Hungary, elected as a deputy from the Tisza party.

“I swear to be faithful to Hungary and its fundamental law, to respect and ensure that its normative acts are respected. I will exercise my position as a deputy in the National Assembly for the benefit of the Hungarian nation. So help me God!” said Gurzó, in the plenary session of the Budapest parliament.

“I can imagine how the chauvinists would be puffed up if someone here took the oath in Hungarian. For example, the chauvinist Dan Tanasă who this week, after George Simion invited the Hungarians to join the AUR, sent us to Budapest again during a parliamentary dispute”, commented Csoma Botond.

Center-right leader Peter Magyar was sworn in as Hungary's prime minister on Saturday, taking the post on promises of change after years of economic stagnation and strained relations with the country's key allies during the terms of his predecessor in office, Viktor Orban.

To the applause of his supporters, Péter Magyar took the oath and promised to “serve” Hungary, not to “rule”.
