Ukrainian drones that hit oil tanks in Latvia were diverted by the Russians. A minister resigned

The Minister of Defense of Latvia, Andris Spruds, resigned on Sunday, after two Ukrainian drones entered Latvia from Russia on Thursday and hit oil storage facilities here, reports Reuters, taken over by Agerpres.
Latvian Prime Minister Evika Silina called for his resignation on Sunday morning, saying the anti-drone systems were not implemented quickly enough. She appointed Colonel Raivis Melnis from the Latvian army as the new defense minister.
Latvia and Lithuania on Thursday asked NATO to strengthen its air defenses in the region after two drones crossed the Russian border and exploded at a Latvian oil storage facility.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sibiga said on Platform X on Sunday that the drones were Ukrainian and had entered Latvia as a result of “Russian electronic warfare that deliberately diverted Ukrainian drones from their targets in Russia.”
In response to the drone incidents, Ukraine is considering sending experts to help strengthen air security in the Baltic states, Sibiga said on Friday.
