Father and son sailed on SUP boards from Latvia to Russia along the Zilupe River
Apparently, the walk along the river turned out to be so exciting that the family did not notice how they sailed away from Latvia and sailed to Russia. Latvian border guards saw them, but did not have time to do anything.
They were detained by Russian customs officers. Latvian law enforcement officers opened a criminal case regarding the illegal crossing and sent an official request to the Russian Federation. To date, neither the man nor his son have returned to Latvia.
