Collectibles that once belonged to model and movie star Marilyn Monroe are to be auctioned off, offering a rare opportunity to enter the private world of one of Hollywood's most beloved legends.

Among the objects that are the object of the auction are pieces from the star's wardrobe, jewelry, letters, handwritten notes, paintings and poems.
“Marilyn is a symbol”said Brian Chanes, director of Hollywood and entertainment at Heritage Auctions, during a preview of the collection on Friday. “People still love and adore Marilyn to this day,” writes Reuters.
Real name Norma Jeane Mortenson, Monroe was born in Los Angeles in 1926 and became a famous actress, model, singer and sex symbol, known for her blonde hair and hourglass figure. He died in 1962.
Heritage Auctions is auctioning items from the collection of poets Norman and Hedda Rosten, Monroe's close friends and confidants. The auction, which takes place on June 1, coincides with the 100th anniversary of the artist's birth and includes personal items dating from 1955-1962.
Among the stars of the auction are some documents that have not been seen by the public before and which bring information about the intimate life of the singer. The documents refer to her romantic relationships, her fears of losing a pregnancy and her reflections on mortality.
“It's something really special because it's not about objects bought and sold in the last decades”, said Chanes. “It is truly a discovery.”
From the custom jewelry Monroe wore to the artwork she held in her hands, the collection offers shoppers intimate access to the singer's personal universe. The auction also includes correspondence with her ex-husband, the playwright Arthur Miller, which highlights the emotional complexities of their marriage, as well as a never-before-seen letter from Monroe's psychiatrist describing the day before her death.
Chanes presented a note with a special emotional charge from the time when Monroe was filming “Some Like It Hot”. In a note with the Hotel del Coronado logo, the actress asked for help because the problems she had threatened to disrupt the production of the film.
“Shortly before she overdosed and had to stop filming, she wrote: I feel like I'm drowning,” Chanes said.
“She feels anguish from her writing”he said, adding that “Monroe sketched, on the same note, a figure submerged in water, begging for help”, an image that highlights the mental health problems the actress was struggling with.
