Crin Antonescu praises Nicușor Dan for the Europe Day message. “He speaks, for the first time in history, from Cotroceni, about the mistakes of Europe”

The former candidate for the presidential elections, Crin Antonescu, reacted on Saturday, May 9, in a post on Facebook, to the message sent by President Nicușor Dan on Europe Day, stating that he appreciates the fact that the head of state spoke “for the first time in history, since Cotroceni, about the mistakes of Europe”.

Antonescu said that he welcomes “with pleasant surprise” the positioning of Nicușor Dan and invoked his statements about DNA's activity during the mandate of the former head of the institution, Laura Codruța Kövesi.
“I am happy with the communication today, on Europe Day, by the President of Romania. I greet with pleasant surprise the fact that Mr. Nicușor Dan is speaking, for the first time in history, from Cotroceni, about the mistakes of Europe. Together with the answer given to the question about the DNA in the mandate of Mrs. Kovesi (timid answer, but which shows at least a precious dose of common sense), together with the fact that he did not comply with the “orders” hysterics of the supposedly “reforming” Bolshevik pack or with the fact that they are trying to strike a rational balance in the internal political crisis, these are signs that give hope and I have not the slightest hesitation in welcoming them”, wrote Crin Antonescu in a post on Facebook.
The former presidential candidate also harshly criticized the comments received online, claiming that those who attack him “without a trace of argument” are “real, flesh and blood idiots”.
In the same message, Antonescu also mentioned the journalist Cristian Tudor Popescu, stating that his statements about former and current political leaders make him no longer affected by critical reactions from the online environment.
“To the attention of those who lash out with insults (and those without imagination), without any trace of argument, reason or (God forbid!) politeness: I don't consider you “dumb”, but real idiots, flesh and blood, with little mind and enormous hatred. You can continue to develop, that's all you can, that's your joy and your contribution to a “modern” Romania (like Bolojan's pole). But you must know that it doesn't annoy me, it doesn't depress me, it doesn't disgust me anymore. And there can be no talk of sadness either. After seeing CTP stating that Băsescu did the least harm to Romania (in ten years) and Nicușor Dan the most harm (in one year), I can no longer be sad for what one, a thousand or a million imbeciles post”, Crin Antonescu also mentioned.
Nicușor Dan stated in his Europe Day message that the European Union also made mistakes, giving as examples the abandonment of nuclear energy, the dependence on Russian gas, the neglect of the defense industry and some environmental policies that he considered excessively ambitious.
“Europe made mistakes. When it gave up nuclear, and based its energy on cheap gas from Russia, that was a mistake. When it neglected its defense industry, that was a mistake. When, in the obviously justified environmental policy, it set far too ambitious targets, it hurt its heavy industry, and that was a mistake. When, on several issues, it acted ideologically, it was also a mistake”, stated the president.
