Bolojan's Europe Day message, viral on Facebook: “It's a tough fight”

Ilie Bolojan, the prime minister dismissed by the Parliament on Tuesday after the PSD-AUR motion, sent a Europe Day message on Saturday in which he says that “Romania's modernization is a tough fight”.

“Years in a row, a power mechanism with deep roots in communism survived in Romania, a system in which some advanced through relationships, not through competence, in which state resources served networks of influence, not people,” he wrote on Facebook.

“Today, this system reacts. Because the reforms cut its privileges and sources of power. That's why the modernization of Romania is a hard fight,” added the dismissed prime minister.

An hour and a half after posting on Facebook, Bolojan's message had more than 21,000 likes, more than 2,200 comments, mostly positive, and 1,100 reshares.

The liberal leader also addressed those who will participate in the demonstration “One road – Europe”, organized on Saturday, in the center of the Capital, on the occasion of Europe Day.

“I thank all those who take to the streets today for democratic values. Even if I am not in Bucharest, I am with them and all those who believe in a European, modern and just Romania. Democracy is not defended once every few years. It is defended every day,” he said.
