T2 operator studied the winter routes of Siberians / Society news of Krasnoyarsk and the Krasnoyarsk Territory / Newslab.Ru

T2, a Russian mobile operator, studied the winter roaming activity of Siberian customers.

From December to February, subscribers visited 163 countries. Most often, Siberians traveled to Kazakhstan and Thailand. Compared to the previous winter, the tourist flow to Southeast, East and South Asia increased most significantly.

Last winter, T2’s Siberian clients most often traveled to Kazakhstan. This direction accounted for 27% of all foreign travel by Siberians. Despite the fact that the tourist flow to this country has decreased by 19% (compared to winter 2024/2025), the destination remains popular. In second place in terms of tourist flow is Thailand, in third is Uzbekistan. Also in the top 10 were China, Vietnam, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Turkey, Tajikistan, and the UAE.

Compared to the previous winter, demand for Southeast, East and South Asia has increased, which is likely due to the simplification of entry rules into a number of countries and the launch of direct flights from Siberian cities. The largest increase in travelers was shown by Vietnam, which received 6 times more tourists. Siberians also more often traveled to Hong Kong (+107%), Japan (+65%), India (+44%), China (+30%), Mongolia (+21%), the Maldives (+35%) and the Philippines (+62%).

African destinations have also become more popular. The flow of tourists from Siberian regions to Egypt last winter increased by 43%, to South Africa – by 38%, and to Morocco – by 21%. On the contrary, Siberians chose Latin America less often than a year ago—the tourist flow decreased by 12%.

Among the exotic and remote places where T2's Siberian clients visited last winter: Latin American states and Caribbean countries – Antigua and Barbuda, El Salvador, St. Lucia, St. Kitts and Nevis, Suriname, Guatemala, Guyana; African countries – Botswana, Burkina Faso, Benin, Cote d'Ivoire, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Sierra Leone, Djibouti, Asian countries – Brunei, Laos, East Timor and many others.

While traveling around the world, Siberian T2 clients used 24,000 gigabytes of mobile Internet and “talked” for almost 735,000 minutes. Subscribers were most active in calling and downloading in Belarus, Azerbaijan, Thailand, the UAE, and the Philippines. These countries have the highest voice and Internet traffic per tourist.

T2 was the first in the Russian market to cancel international roaming for voice communications. The operator's clients can use the package of minutes included in the tariff for calls to any numbers in the Russian Federation. The new conditions apply in more than 50 countries around the world.

Also, ahead of the holiday season, T2 launched unlimited Internet in more than 30 countries. Customers of popular tariff plans can use the service abroad every day at no additional cost: 15 days for all roamers and 22 days for MiXX subscription users.

The study took into account T2 clients from the Siberia macroregion, which includes the Novosibirsk, Omsk, Tomsk, Kemerovo regions, Krasnoyarsk and Altai territories, the Republics of Altai, Khakassia, and Tyva.
