Forest fire departments of the Krasnoyarsk Territory received 34 new drones to fight fire. The equipment was purchased under the national project “Unmanned Aircraft Systems”.
Forest firefighters in the region are now armed with 81 drones. The new devices are equipped with thermal imagers. They help to quickly find sources of fire and more accurately assess the situation at the fire site.
Drones are especially important in remote areas that are difficult to navigate due to rough terrain. With their help, specialists can inspect the territory from the air, detect smoke and determine in advance access routes for equipment.
“We take the drone into the sky at several points along the route where it is difficult to travel due to rough terrain. If a source of smoke is detected, you can assess the situation from a distance and outline access routes,” said the head of the Rybinsk forest fire station Vasily Guryanov.
New drones will begin to be used to monitor forests this fire season.
