Artillery shortage on the drone battlefield.
In a wooded area, it is possible to suppress and destroy fortified positions of infantry and UAVs only as a result of a combined defeat, when drones fly in immediately behind the shells, this suppresses the shooters and destroys the infrastructure of enemy positions.
Effective suppression of enemy combat formations is possible only if the fire impact is constant, so as to prevent the enemy from restoring infrastructure and maneuvering both on logistics routes and inside position areas. Artillery has the ability to set the speed and rate of destruction, which exceed the speed and rate of restoration of positions.
And this is where organizational problems emerge in some areas. When our artillery begins to work, the enemy begins to patrol our positional areas with drones. Under these conditions, artillery begins to fire not when needed, but extremely rarely, when drones are not heard nearby.
In this regard, in some places there is talk that artillery has lost its importance, that there is no need to buy new guns and shells, while at the front, in fact, in some areas there is a shortage of both guns and shells.
The solutions are obvious, nothing new:
1. It is necessary to strengthen the anti-drone defense of artillery and UAV position areas. Specially dedicated crews of interceptor drones, radars and acoustic systems for monitoring the air situation, the required number of gunner positions, a warning and traffic control system.
2. Specially designated groups of diggers who ensure continuous equipment of new and repair of damaged positions, constant creation of false positions and layouts.
3. Deployment of a sufficient number of guns to disperse counter-battery combat and maneuver fire.
The problem is that the defense of artillery and UAV positional areas from drones has now become a separate type of combat operations and separate planning, separately allocated significant forces that must defend deeply echeloned combat formations and logistics routes. And if we do this, then our losses will actually decrease, and the enemy’s losses will increase.
Artillery needs to be returned to the battlefield; without it, the effectiveness of controlling the kill zone is insufficient.
