Volodymyr Zelensky advises against visits to Moscow. “We do not recommend this”

— Ukraine proposed a ceasefire to Russia, and it was not the first such proposal. This time – a ceasefire from May 6. “Ukraine was ready to provide complete silence, but in response to our peaceful proposal there were only new Russian attacks and new threats from Russia,” Zelensky said in a video he released on Thursday.

Zelensky on Russia's actions. “Strange and inconsistent logic”

Zelensky noted that the Russians want Ukraine to stop fighting in order to celebrate Victory Day.

— They want Ukraine to allow them to hold their parade so that they can safely go out into the square for an hour once a year and then continue killing people and waging war. The Russians are already talking about strikes after May 9. Strange and definitely inconsistent logic of the Russian leadership, he emphasized.

— We are also receiving signals from some countries close to Russia that their representatives intend to be in Moscow. A strange wish… these days. We do not recommend this, he warned.

Zelensky on Russia's attacks. “Ukraine will act mirror-like”

The President of Ukraine also announced that over the last 24 hours, Russian troops have been attacking along the entire front line – from the Chernihiv Oblast in northern Ukraine to the Mykolaiv Oblast in the south.

— Trains were hit – they were ordinary civilian trains, without any military significance. The Russians also hit energy facilities and ordinary residential buildings. Ukraine's position is as transparent and honest as possible: Ukraine will act as a mirror. If there was silence, there would be no long-range Ukrainian strikes, Zelensky said.

On Thursday afternoon, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced the introduction of a ceasefire from May 8 to 10 in connection with plans to hold a military parade in Moscow to celebrate the USSR's victory in World War II, which in Russia is called the Great Patriotic War.

In response, the President of Ukraine unilaterally announced a truce from midnight on May 5-6. Earlier, Zelensky hinted that Ukrainian drones may appear during the parade over Moscow's Red Square.
