PNL and USR announce that they are making a common front, in three directions. “Our response to PSD's destructive action”

“Our response to PSD's destructive action against good governance and to the collaboration between PSD and AUR in Parliament is the cooperation of reformist and responsible political forces,” PNL and USR sent Thursday evening, in a joint message signed by the leaders of the parties, Ilie Bolojan and Dominic Fritz.

The two formations announce that they have decided to coordinate their “next steps in the face of this artificially provoked crisis” in three directions: within the dismissed government, which remained interim, in the Legislature, but also at the consultations at the Cotroceni Palace.

“We can no longer accept the argument of a false stability to cover the blocking of reforms and the waste of public money,” the two parties state.

USR and PNL also say that, through the two leaders, they assume a commitment “to defend the direction of reform and fairness” that the government had.

The joint message was published during the evening by the dismissed prime minister, Ilie Bolojan, in a post on his Facebook page.

Their approach comes against the background of the informal consultations started by President Nicușor Dan with the leaders of the parties in the former governing coalition, after the dismissal of the Bolojan Cabinet by the Parliament through the adoption of the censure motion submitted by PSD and AUR.

Joint message signed by Fritz and Bolojan

  • Our response to PSD's destructive action against good governance and the collaboration between PSD and AUR in Parliament is the cooperation of reformist and responsible political forces.
  • Today, the National Liberal Party and the Save Romania Union, through their presidents, undertake a commitment to defend the direction of reform and fairness on which we have founded our common government.
  • Following an open discussion, we agreed to coordinate our next steps in the face of this artificially provoked crisis, in Parliament, in the Interim Government and at the consultations at the Cotroceni Palace.
  • We can no longer accept the argument of a false stability to cover the blocking of reforms and the waste of public money.
  • Our collaboration is the guarantee that the modernization of institutions, honesty in public office and the realization of strategic investments will remain on the country's agenda.
  • We don't do this for our parties. We do it for Romania.
