Russian cuisine can receive the status of world cultural heritage. The first step towards this will be the adoption of a separate GOST for traditional dishes, said the head of Roskachestvo Maxim Protasov.

As Yamal 1 writes with reference to TASS, GOST will form the basis for proving the uniqueness and value of Russian cuisine for the whole world. After approval of the national standard, the department plans to submit an official application to UNESCO.

In addition, Roskachestvo intends to launch certification of restaurants, including foreign ones, that will work according to this standard. Protasov explained that this way the industry will have a common understanding of what exactly is considered real Russian cuisine, and visitors will be able to count on guaranteed high quality dishes.

The GOST draft has already been submitted for public discussion. The document was developed by a working group under the Ministry of Industry and Trade together with specialists from Roskachestvo.
