On the second leg of the Champions League semi-final, won in front of Atletico Madrid with the score of 1-0 (2-1 on aggregate), Arsenal completed the transfer of one of its players, thus shortening the list of footballers in the squad.
Specifically, FC Porto have activated the buyout clause for Polish international Jakub Kiwior. He arrived at the London club in January 2023 from Spezia and has since played 44 games in the Premier League.
Porto bought Kiwior for 17 million euros
Last summer, Arsenal agreed to loan Kiwior to Porto with an option to buy, which has now been officially confirmed. The Pole signed a four-year contract with the Portuguese giant.
Porto have exercised the option to buy on their loan deal with Arsenal and will now hold the rights to Jakub Kiwior permanently. The player comes for a fixed sum of 17 million euros, plus a maximum variable sum of five million euros, depending on the achievement of certain objectives. A four-year contract was signed with a buyout clause of 70 million euros.

Arsenal have also secured a clause that guarantees them a percentage of the future sale, should Porto decide to sell Kiwior in future years.
The Pole has been a starter this season at Porto, starting 25 of the 28 matches in the domestic championship. In addition, he played in 6 of the 12 matches in the Europa League, where Porto were knocked out in the quarter-finals by Nottingham Forest.
However, Porto managed to win the Portuguese title and Kiwior's good performances convinced the management to keep him permanently.
Jakub Kiwior started his career at Tychy, and later played for Anderlecht, Podbrezova, Zilina, Spezia, Arsenal and FC Porto.
