It would seem that what could be easier than boiling eggs? However, in practice, many are faced with the fact that the shell is difficult to peel off. As a result, instead of a neat egg, you get something unappetizing.
In fact, it’s enough to know a couple of tricky tricks so that even the freshest homemade eggs can be peeled without the slightest effort, says Elena Tarasova, author of the blog “Culinary College” (18+).
Why are fresh eggs difficult to peel?
The fresher the egg, the tighter its inner shell adheres to the white. Eggs that have been lying around for some time develop an air layer under the shell, making cleaning easier. Homemade or newly laid eggs have practically no such layer – hence the difficulties.
What ingredients will help?
During cooking, just add two simple components:
- salt – helps the protein stay intact;
- vinegar – softens the shell by reacting with calcium.
Practical advice on cooking
Place the eggs in a saucepan, cover with cold water and leave for 7-10 minutes at room temperature. Then add a tablespoon of salt and place on the stove.
Bring to a boil, reduce heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes. After turning off, do not remove the eggs for another 4-5 minutes. Meanwhile, in a separate bowl, dissolve a tablespoon of vinegar in cold water. Place the boiled eggs there and wait until they cool completely. Thanks to this, the shell will come off easily.
