The main city clock of Krasnoyarsk on the administration tower was stopped for repairs. How long it will last is unknown.

The mayor's office said that today the contractor will begin painting the dials under warranty.

“The work will be carried out alternately on all sides of the main city clock. The first to stop was the dial that faces Surikov Street. After work on it is completed, the high-altitude workers will move to another,” the administration explained.

Let us remind you that Krasnoyarsk “Big Ben” is one of the city’s attractions. The clock tower was built in 1976 according to the design architect Areg Demirkhanov. Initially, the main clock of Krasnoyarsk was electronic and showed not only the time, but also the air temperature. But by 2001, the mechanism had fallen into disrepair and needed either major repairs or replacement. As a result, the clock tower acquired a modern look – a new clock with a mechanical dial and chimes was installed on it. The watch can also play different melodies, which are regularly changed for the holidays.
