George Simion, about the scenario Călin Georgescu premier: “If we have the opportunity, yes”

George Simion, the leader of the AUR, declared on Tuesday evening that the appointment of Călin Georgescu as prime minister remains “a real variant”if the political situation will allow it. “If we get the chance and it's up to us, sure, yes,” said Simion, pointing out that his formation has “all scenarios on the table”.

The statements were made in a press briefing, after the censure motion against the Bolojan Government, initiated by AUR and PSD, passed following the vote in Parliament.
In AUR's opinion, Georgescu is “the president of Romania“, Simion insisted, and the elections were held “unfairly annulled“.
“We must return to democracy, to the constitutional framework“, he stated, adding that a possible proposal for the position of prime minister also depends on Georgescu's availability:
“First of all, Mr. Călin Georgescu must show up and let's go in that direction.”
The President of AUR criticized Nicușor Dan, whom he said he had “a sick reaction” and that it organizes “informal and then formal consultations” to maintain the current coalition.
“See what enemies we face. We have all the scenarios in front of us and we will act accordingly according to the will of the Romanian people“, Simion added.
Asked if AUR will go to consultations with Georgescu's proposal, George Simion avoided a decisive answer, but reiterated that the party will act “according to the will of the Romanian people”.
Simion also launched accusations against other political leaders, including the prime minister dismissed by a no-confidence motion.
“Ilie Bolojan is responsible for the economic crisis, and Nicușor Dan for the political crisis“.
According to the AUR leader, Romanians would like “a reset”, arguing that the 2024 and 2025 votes would have clearly shown a desire for change.
“This change did not come”Simion added.
We remind you that the censure motion against the Bolojan Government was voted on Tuesday by 281 parliamentarians (with the largest number of votes in the history of the Romanian Parliament). 233 votes were needed to be adopted.
