A Krasnoyarsk resident tore a copy of the Victory Banner from his house and came under investigation (video)

A criminal case was opened against a 41-year-old resident of Krasnoyarsk, who damaged the pole of the “Victory Banner” flag.

As the Investigative Committee said, the incident occurred on the evening of April 30, 2026, near one of the houses on Petra Slovtsov Street and was caught on video. The footage captured how a man tore off a flag mounted on a façade bracket, representing the symbol of victory. Soviet people and its Armed Forces over Nazi Germany in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.

Now the Krasnoyarsk resident is suspected of committing a crime under Part 3 of Art. 354.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (desecration of symbols of Russia’s military glory and insult to the memory of defenders of the Fatherland). They can be punished for this a fine of up to 3 million rubles; or compulsory, corrective or forced labor; or imprisonment for up to 3 years.

Currently, the person involved is detained, the issue of choosing a preventive measure is being decided. In a criminal case, investigative actions are being carried out aimed at establishing all the circumstances of the incident.
