Modular, extremely thin Tecno smartphone. This is what phones may soon look like

The new smartphone, which will be officially presented at the MWC 2026 fair (starting on March 2), relies on the concept of the so-called modularity. Manufacturers have been exploring it for several years, but so far no one has managed to develop a formula that is practical and works well. These are devices that, although they have a foundation – the main part in which the most important components are located – everything else can be freely exchanged and adjusted to your own preferences. Tecno has already tried experiments in this field in the past, but what they have prepared now seems much more interesting.

The new smartphone beats the iPhone Air.? It is only 4.9 mm
The new modular smartphone is to be extremely narrow – a thickness of 4.9 mm means in practice that it will be thinner than impressive for that matter iPhone Air. Of course, as more accessories are added, the dimensions will change, but the base, which serves as a stand-alone, fully functional device, is truly surprising in this area.
Individual modules are to be attached to the central unit via magnets. It's a simple mechanism that allows for… quick assembly and disassembly of the accessory needed at a given moment. At this stage, the manufacturer is announcing a total of 10 of them. They will include various types of cameras, an enlarged battery and a simple controller that makes it easier to control characters in games.

Modular smartphone. This is what phones may soon look like
In the manufacturer's vision, the user should only take with him the modules he plans to use – he can leave the rest at home. Thanks to this, we carry a significantly lighter and smaller device in our pocketwhose functions and appearance we adjust depending on what we need.
Whether the modular phone in this form will actually be sold and, if so, at what price – is not known at this stage. The concept serves primarily to present the manufacturer's technical and design capabilities, and details about further plans and the actual use of the developed modular solutions will be revealed during the upcoming fair in Barcelona.
