On Saturday, at 15:00 local time, Serie A matches are rarely played in Milan. More often, however, the Primavera matches, even weekly, most of the time, considering the footballing duality of the Lombard metropolis. GSP reporters witnessed the Inter – Bologna, important game in the Primavera 1 championship, in the perspective of access to the play-offs.

On the outskirts of the city, in Parco Nord, between the neighborhoods of Affori and Niguarda, where the air is cleaner and the silence is almost rural, the two youth teams under 20 years of age dueled in a cordial and unexpectedly professional atmosphere, especially through the level of organization.

High-level conditions at Inter Primavera's sports center

Konami Youth Development Centre, as it is called, or Centro Sportivo Giacinto Facchetti or Interello, as the fans also called it, has long surpassed the status of a simple training base.

Six immaculate synthetic pitches, goalkeeping areas, recovery areas, the famous 'gabbia', that small, enclosed pitch for fast play and reflexes, a weight room and junior accommodation areas, all run in modern academy fashion.

There is even a bar for spectators, and around the field, specially protected fences to prevent injuries. The stewards are in place, the ambulance is indispensable, and the stands are impeccably clean. Seeds are not sold, panini are.

However, a special detail also appears in this whole landscape. Jesse Saputo, the 18-year-old son of Canadian billionaire Joey Saputo, owner of the Bologna club, performed for the guests. Used in midfield, there were no signs of preferential treatment or gestures to highlight it.

Andrei Toroc's day

There are more people in the stands than you would sometimes see at the games of teams that are active or have been active in the Superliga such as Metaloglobus or FC Voluntari. Families, parents, friends and scouts do not swear at each other or create that unconstructive tension. In the air, in other words, there is a shyness, maybe because there are children on the field who are still looking for their way.

At turf level, it was an important direct duel in the fight for the play-offs, won by the visitors 2-1, after a match largely decided by the defensive errors of the hosts.

Bologna started better and gave the first signal in the 6th minute, when Negri got to the finish, but without finding the frame of the goal. The pressure came to fruition in the 16th minute when Inter made a mistake in construction through Marello again Andrei Toroc, 18-year-old Romanian central midfielder, brought up by LPS Banatul and used in this match in a more advanced role, immediately took advantage, recovered and finished simply for 0-1.

The game remained balanced until the 30th minute, when another Nerazzurri defensive error made the difference: Taho was late on the ball and Castaldo recovered to make it 0-2.

Until the break, the Inter players had another opportunity through El Mahboubi, but his execution went just over the goal. In the second half, the hosts controlled possession more and tried to push the game into the opposition half, but without creating any real dangerous chances. Bologna defended organized and managed the pace of the game, limiting spaces and risks.

A clear opportunity for Inter was that of Mancuso (56'). The midfielder tried to reduce the difference with a powerful shot, but Happonen intervened safely. Inter's pressure intensified towards the end, and Zanchetta (84') got on the scoring list, taking advantage of a phase in which the ball hit the inside bar before entering the goal.

The last minutes brought a forcing of the hosts, but the rossoblu team resisted and preserved the advantage, obtaining an important victory, which consolidated its position 5 in the ranking after 36 rounds. On the other hand, the Nerazzurri are the first below the play-off line, therefore the 7th place, with 53 accumulated points.

In the end, the team from Emilia-Romagna celebrated on the pitch the access to the quarter-finals.
