Man arrested at home for aggravated robbery after stealing from store and assaulting cashier and security guard

The police officers from the General Directorate of Police of the Municipality of Bucharest – Police Section 1 detained a 43-year-old man, in a criminal case in which investigations are being carried out under the aspect of committing the crime of qualified robbery.

According to the Capital Police, on February 1, the 1st Police Department was notified by a woman, cashier of a commercial space, regarding the fact that, on the same day, a person allegedly stole several goods from the location located in District 1, and in order to ensure his escape, he allegedly exercised acts of violence on her, as well as on the security guard.
“The research and investigations carried out led to a man, aged 43. On the same date, following the specific activities carried out, the suspect was detected and taken to hearings. The administered probation office revealed that, on February 1, 2026, around 8:30 p.m., the suspect would have penetrated inside the commercial space, a circumstance in which, taking advantage of the inattention of the employees, he would have stolen several food and personal hygiene products, with which he would have passed the self-service shops, without paying for them, and, when he was caught, in order to ensure his escape, he would have exercised acts of violence on the cashier and the security guard”according to the Capital Police.
The total damage caused of approximately 1,300 lei was fully recovered and handed over to the injured person.
The man was detained for 24 hours, and later, the magistrates ordered him under house arrest.
The investigations are continued by the police officers of the 1st Police Department, under the supervision of the Prosecutor's Office attached to the 1st District Court, under the aspect of committing the crime of qualified robbery.
