Stiven Plaza (27 years old), a striker brought with great pomp to Romanian and international football from Ecuador, terminated his agreement with Chindia Târgoviște, the team in the last place in the League 2 play-off.

The separation was also confirmed by interim coach Nicu Croitoru. The reason? The footballer said that he is depressed and has not been able to adapt in Romania.

Stiven Plaza terminated his contract with Chindia Târgoviște: “That was his wish”

“He said he was depressed and wanted to go home. That was his wish,” Nicu Croitoru said, according to dbsport.ro. According to the cited source, Stiven Plaza would have had big problems adapting to the other club for which he played in Romanian football.

Stiven Plaza arrived in Romania at Oțelul Galati in the winter of 2025. After 6 months in which he did not live up to expectations (3 matches, 0 contributions) he left the Danube formation and joined Chindia. In Târgoviște he played 17 matches and scored three goals. Teams on Stiven Plaza's CV: Independiente, Real Valladolid, Trabzonspor, NYRB II, Aucas, Guayaqil City, Mazatlan and Venados. It had the highest market share in 2019 – two million euros. Now it is quoted at 75,000 euros.

Chindia Târgoviște qualified for the play-off of League 2, but since then things have gone as badly as possible: the Dâmbovița have 8 consecutive defeats, and the goal of promotion is further and further away. Chindia Târgoviște is in 6th place in the play-off of the second echelon, with 39 points ahead of 3 stages of the end of the season. FC Bihor, the team in 5th place is 6 points away.

Until the end of the championship, Chindia Târgoviște still has three important matches to play. Dâmbovițeni have a direct match with Bihor in the next stage, on May 5, from 17:30. In the last two stages, Chindia Târgoviște will play with the first two teams: at home with Corvinul Hunedoara and away with Sepsi.
