Who was the skier who died in the avalanche in Bucegi. “One of the inspectorate's most skilled climbers”

The skier who died on Saturday, after being caught by an avalanche in the Văia Coștelei area of the Bucegi Mountains, was Lieutenant-Colonel Dan Colniceanu, aged 35, from the Brașov Emergency Situations Inspectorate, IGSU announced in a statement.
Dan Colniceanu was a graduate of the “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” Police Academy, Fire Department, and “dedicated his entire career to saving lives, being employed for 12 years within ISU Brașov”, wrote the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations.
“He was one of the inspectorate's most skilled climbers, a consummate professional and a comrade respected by all who had the honor of being with him,” the IGSU said.
“The whole mountain, the place he loved so much, was also his last journey”
The representatives of the inspectorate say that the mountain was Dan Colniceanu's “great passion”, “the place he loved enormously and where he always found his balance, strength and calling”.
“He met him with patience, respected him with humility and climbed with courage, making this connection a defining part of his life. The whole mountain, the place he loved so much, was also his last journey,” IGSU wrote.
The Inspectorate said that the death of Dan Colniceanu “leaves a huge void in the souls of his colleagues and all those who knew him”.
“He will remain in our memory as a man of rare nobility, a devoted rescuer and a lover of the mountain until the last moment. Good way to the stars, dear friend! Watch over us from there, from above! We are with the family and we wish them strength to overcome this extremely difficult time for all of us”, concluded the IGSU.
Dan Colniceanu was with two other people, on Saturday, skiing off-piste in Valea Coștelei, when they were surprised by an avalanche.
The other two people from the group were taken by the rescuers to be brought down from the mountain, stated the Head of the Bușteni formation within Salvamont Prahova, Sergiu Frusinoiu, for Agerpres.
