In May, Krasnoyarsk residents will be able to see the Blue Moon and the second spring starfall in the sky

The Reshetnev University Observatory told what significant and spectacular astronomical phenomena can be seen in the sky in Krasnoyarsk in the last month of spring.
So, on the night of May 2, the first of two full moons occurred, which is sometimes called the Flower Moon. It became a micromoon – the opposite of a supermoon.
On May 4, the Moon, illuminated at 94%, will pass very close to the bright red star Antares – the distance between them will be about 4 degrees in Krasnoyarsk.
The Eta Aquarid meteor shower will peak on the night of May 6 — up to 50 meteors per hour are expected. Astronomers say observing meteors in early May, the best time is after midnight, in the pre-dawn hours and away from city lights. The difficulty is that The shower's radiant rises in the morning and is best visible from the Southern Hemisphere. In Russia, eta Aquarids can also be observed, but in smaller quantities.
On May 13, the Moon, illuminated by 13%, will be close to Saturn – the distance between the objects will be less than 5 degrees; and on May 20 – near Jupiter at a distance of about 2 degrees. They can be observed with the naked eye or through binoculars.
The second full moon this month, the Blue Moon, will occur on May 31st. “This full moon also occurs close to the moon's apogee (the furthest point in its orbit from Earth), making it the smallest micromoon of the year. At the moment of the full moon, our natural satellite will be in the constellation Scorpio. Also on May 31st, the 100% illuminated Moon will pass very close to the bright red star Antares in the sky. Best to watch around midnight. The full moon will occur at 15:45 Krasnoyarsk time or 11:45 Moscow time,” explained the head of the observatory, Sergei Veselkov.
