Georgian citizen wanted nationally, caught in Brașov. He had an arrest warrant for extradition to Ukraine

On Thursday, April 30, the Brasov police detained a Georgian citizen, who is wanted nationally for extradition to Ukraine, for forming an organized criminal group.

“On April 30 this year, at around 18:00, the policemen from the Brașov Criminal Investigation Service were alerted by the policemen from the Criminal Investigation Service of the General Directorate of Police of the Municipality of Bucharest regarding the need to carry out investigations to identify a vehicle, which there was data that was in Brașov County”reports the General Inspectorate of the Romanian Police (IGPR) in a press release.
The vehicle was found in Brașov, and the police began the process of identifying the driver, who is a 39-year-old Georgian citizen.
There is an arrest warrant in his name issued by the Bucharest Court of Appeal, for extradition to Ukraine, where he is accused of forming an organized criminal group, bodily harm and fraud.
The police from Brașov quickly found the place where the man was hiding, and the next morning, with the support of Special Actions fighters, arrested him based on the warrant issued in his name.
After he was caught, the man was taken and placed in the Detention and Preventive Arrest Center in order to continue the legal proceedings.
