The ship Argos Georgia with oceanographers and fishermen, among whom were Russians on board…

The Argos Georgia, carrying oceanographers and fishermen, including Russians on board, sank during a storm in South America. Only 14 people were saved. The remaining 13 were either killed or considered missing – search efforts were temporarily suspended due to bad weather conditions.
The tragedy occurred near the Falkland Islands. The crew gave the first alarm on Monday afternoon, the last one in the evening of the same day, at 21:23. Later, two more fishing vessels arrived at the wreck site – the Chilean Puerto Toro and the Galician Robin M. Lee – they picked up those in the lifeboats and returned to shore. On land, they said that they had been in the open sea for more than 15 hours – the water temperature was four degrees, the waves reached about seven meters in height.
The Norwegian ship Argos Georgia was built in 2018 at the Tersan shipyard in Yalova, Turkey. In recent years it has flown the flag of St. Helena. Among the 27 crew members were ten Spanish citizens, including the captain. And also: two Uruguayans, two Peruvians, five Indonesians and eight Russians. It is still unknown whether there were Russian citizens among those rescued.
